Digg, a user submitted social news site, announced it will be rolling out a new ad platform, Digg Ads. Users will be able to vote on advertisements like they vote on stories, deciding where those ad’s end up on the site, and how much the advertiser pays per click. The more an ad is Dugg-up, the less the advertiser will have to pay. If the ad is buried down, the more the advertiser is charged. Ads that don’t get a lot of votes get buried and eventually booted off the digg island. This platform gives Digg users the power to decide what ads they want to see, giving advertisers input and forcing them to produce appealing content.
