Updating Twitter to Hard? Try DailyBooth.com

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Picture 155If 140 characters is too much for you and tweeting is just too cumbersome we have got the website for you. Say hello to DailyBooth.

DailyBooth is a twitter-like messaging service, the difference is the main form of communication is pictures.

You can post a picture of anything, but mostly it looks like users are posting pictures of themselves. (photo booth style)

Unlike twitter, DailyBooth’s demographic seams to be mostly teens & dailybooths growth has been amazing with 3 million unique visitors per month growing at a rate of 35%.

Would you use a service like Dailybooth? I might use it to post photo’s but not all of myself! In anycase, comment below & let us know.

Want to bike ride with Lance Armstrong? Follow him on twitter!

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Wanna take a bike ride w/ Lance Armstrong? Well follow him on twitter.Picture 153

Lance Armstrong recently tweeted that he was in Glasgow Scotland, inviting anyone to join him for a bike ride. 200 tweeters joined him for a rainy but fun ride.

So I guess following interesting people on twitter does have it’s perks. I know we’re not in Glasgow, but perhaps Lance will be biking in a town near you soon. So follow those tweets.

I think this is a fun story, especially for those who got to take a bike ride w/ Lance. If I was there, i’d prob. be that guy way at the end.

So if Lance was biking in a town near you would you show up? & what one question would you ask him? Leave a comment below & let us now.

Southeastern Conference: Social Media Banned from College Stadiums

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Picture 136The Southeastern Conference is looking to release its final version of it’s new media policy.

We hope they ease up a bit on the final policy, because… In short it’s looking to ban social media usage at all SEC games

That means no twitter, facebook, youtube, twitpic or any other service that would compete with authorized media coverage of the event.

We understand that the SEC wants to protect it’s CBS contract, but how is this enforceable? We think you are shooting yourself in the foot by censoring the most important people – your fans!

Social media & the fans are really only spurring on the interest & good memories for the games! We’re shaking our heads on this one, what do you think? Comment below & let us know.

Twitter.com New Retweet Tool Coming Soon! Retweet This.

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Picture 132Twitter, the microblogging service said it will soon release a tool to make it easier to retweet. Retweeting is simply reposting something tweeted by another, it is meant to give credit to the original tweeter.

Many third party applications like tweetie & tweetdeck already have this ability, so twitter is finally playing catch up, giving it’s users something they really want.

Currently in order to retweet on twitter.com you must manually copy & paste the tweet in question, than type the letters RT followed by the user name of the person who originally tweeted the post.

Manually RTing can be very time consuming, so a built in RT button will be a welcome edition.

Facebook’s July Growth Outpaces Twitter!

Friday, August 14th, 2009

facebook-vs-twitterAccording to comScore, Facebook’s growth in July more then doubled the pace of Twitter. Facebook, a social networking site has 87.7 million unique visitors in the US, a 14% jump from the previous month. Twitter only grew 6% with 21.2 million unique US visitors. What’s astounding is that Facebook’s July growth spurt even surpassed Fox Interactive Media with 80.9 million unique visitors, making it as the fifth largest web property in the US.  While AOL is number 4 with 104.8 million. Adding to its achievements Facebook is already the fourth largest site in the world. But no need to shed a tear for Twitter, it is doing great worldwide with 44.5 million unique visitors in June.
