Southeastern Conference: Social Media Banned from College Stadiums

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Picture 136The Southeastern Conference is looking to release its final version of it’s new media policy.

We hope they ease up a bit on the final policy, because… In short it’s looking to ban social media usage at all SEC games

That means no twitter, facebook, youtube, twitpic or any other service that would compete with authorized media coverage of the event.

We understand that the SEC wants to protect it’s CBS contract, but how is this enforceable? We think you are shooting yourself in the foot by censoring the most important people – your fans!

Social media & the fans are really only spurring on the interest & good memories for the games! We’re shaking our heads on this one, what do you think? Comment below & let us know.

The Facebook Roadtrip – Friends are more than Status Updates

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Facebook user Graham Smith w/ the help from his buddy Josh Baron decided to take a roadtrip for his grad school thesis project & actually reconnect with his facebook friends.

Many of these “friends”  he hasn’t seen in 15 years. Many of his friends started to become acquaintances & many acquaintances became strangers. So Graham took a somewhat awkward roadtrip to connect in real life.

In total they traveled over 1800 miles met up with friends from a lifetime & delivered real life facebook messages.

Youtube Gets a Facelift with a New Redesign Homepage

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

youtube_logoYoutube, ranked as the second largest search engine, did some housecleaning and launched its new masthead redesign. The homepage has been de-cluttered & tweaked to focus on search as the priority and get back to the user experience of watching video. Youtube homepage now has a larger search bar and navigational links similar to Google’s homepage. The revamp also includes a new functional layout with the left side focusing on video exploration through search & browse. While the right side is about organizing videos you love from subscriptions, recent viewing history and uploads. Youtube hopes this will increase site search traffic.

Extreme Stunt Youtube Video: Guy Catches Laptop With His Butt

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

What do you get when you have a man in tights, buns of steel, a laptop & a record button? A viral video! Computer maker MSI is holding an Extreme Youtube Video Contest to promote their X-Slim series notebooks. Youtube users are told to upload their most extreme, fun & crazy videos with the MSI notebook. The company will choose 15 winners who will win a trip to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and a free X-Slim notebook. But one video is becoming a viral sensation & raising eyebrows and butt cheeks with over 180,000 views. Based on the number of clicks a man in tights catching the notebook in a creative way is a shoo in to win & not to mention good PR for MSI. Need we say more! But, just to ease your disturbed mind the laptop is 3 lbs and less then an inch in thickness. No butts where harmed in the making of this video! Or at least we think so, though we can’t say the same for the laptop. Don’t be surprised if you see this stunt replayed with the Macbook Air, since it is one of the thinnest computer. If you think this video is funny you can watch more of there most populat video entries officially on the MSI X-slim site.

Do you think this butt clenching video is real or fake? What is your reaction? Leave a comment below, and let us know!
